A local Braintree woman, has raised almost £300 for an Essex charity, which will be match funded by the company she works for to take the grand total to nearly £600.
Alison Leigh, who works for the UK’s leading independent logistics operator, Europa Worldwide Group, raised the funds for Chelmsford’s Farleigh Hospice as part of Europa’s 50:50 initiative which was launched to celebrate the company’s 50th birthday this year. The scheme invites staff to fundraise for charity through an event or sponsored challenge of their choice – Europa, which is headquartered in Dartford, has promised to then match the money each employee raises up to the total of £500.

The Dartford branch of Europa Road is reporting a record-breaking start to 2017 with consignment growth increasing by 16 per cent compared to quarter one last year.
This success coincides with Europa’s 50th birthday celebration and also with the second anniversary of it’s move to its 1hub facility in Dartford. The opening of the £30 million 26,368m2 site at Albion Road greatly enhanced Europa’s road services, enabling the team to operate more effectively and to achieve double digit growth throughout the network for the past two years.
Paul Melanaphy, Branch Manager for Dartford’s Road team since 2014, said; “Europa’s 1hub facility has done what it was forecast to do; not only has it increased our ability to handle more business in terms of obvious volume, but it also allows us to handle individual items more efficiently. Our service portfolio has grown significantly with the inclusion new daily direct services and additional departures on some existing routes.”
