Europa Boosts Asian Operation with New Appointment

We’re thrilled to announce that we’ve strengthened our Hong Kong team with the appointment of a new General Manager, as we reveal plans to expand our air and sea services across Asia.

Joining the team, which is based at the prestigious Metroplaza Towers, is Lee-Ming Chan, who brings over 30 years of finance and logistics experience to the role. Lee-Ming has worked with some of the top players in the industry, including DHL, Panalpina and Toll, at locations across the world. His appointment comes at an exciting time for our Hong Kong branch, with the appointment of two Business Development Managers working on trade lane development.

We recently announced ambitious plans to expand our global air and sea offering, aiming to complete a business acquisition in the sector before the end of 2018.

We also plan to further develop our services across the continent by opening new branches in China and South East Asia during the coming years. Lee-Ming’s considerable experience in the industry will see him support this strategy to drive long term profitability across Asia, improving our competitiveness and quality of service whilst expanding our customer base.

He said: “I’m delighted to have joined Europa at such an exciting time in its development as a global company. One of the main reasons the business appealed to me was its commitment to constant evolution and growth. I see huge potential for Europa to become a major player in the Asian market and I’m looking forward to having the opportunity to support the team with opening potential new branches over the next few years.”

We have had an office in Hong Kong since 2009 and have since continued to grow in the region through investment and expansion, helped by a recent explosion in e-commerce in Asia.

This, coupled with our market leading European road freight product, allows customers to consolidate in China, ship directly to the UK where on arrival the cargo can be handled and split in our Heathrow facility before being distributed nationally and internationally.

Angus Hind, Europa’s Director of Air and Sea, commented: “Our operations in Asia are stronger than ever before and we’re thrilled to welcome Lee-Ming to build upon the success we’ve seen over the past 12 months. He is an outstanding expert in his field with some great experience that we believe will help us take Europa’s Hong Kong offering to the next level.

“The ambitions that were set out at our Annual Senior Management Conference in January clearly reflect the route we want to take with our air and sea division – to improve the quality of service for new and existing customers, expand into emerging markets and become the go-to logistics provider for Asian businesses. Together with the appointment of Lee-Ming, we’re looking to expand our Hong-Kong team even further to make these goals a reality over the coming months.”
