Europa team in Glasgow

Europa expansion in Scotland supports new jobs

Europa’s expansion in Glasgow

Leading independent logistics company, Europa Worldwide Group has signed a deal to double its current space at Eurocentral in Glasgow – one of Scotland’s largest industrial and logistics hubs, allowing the firm to grow its team.

Record turnover and ambitious investments

The global operator, which continues to set the pace in the market, recently reported a record turnover of £316m for the last 12 months. It has ambitious plans for continued investment, despite the economic situation, and believes improving logistics capacity and capabilities for a growing number of businesses will help them navigate a changing marketplace.

Regional job opportunities

Thirteen new jobs will be created at the firm’s Lanarkshire base over the coming year as a result of the firm’s expansion strategy, which has seen it secure extra capacity with a further 1,776 square foot of high-quality office space. This comes in addition to a new three-year lease arrangement which has also been agreed on the existing area Europa currently occupies at Maxim Park.

Ambitious regional targets

Scotland’s “A Trading Nation” strategy sets out an ambitious target to bolster international exports to comprise 25 per cent or £3.5bn of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) over the next decade to support some 17,500 jobs. The latest data shows despite the shifting climate, Scotland remains on target to achieve this goal, and is actually outperforming the rest of the UK with a 5.7 per cent export increase.

Adrian Redmile, Branch and Sales Director, explained:

“Scotland is committed to developing its transport infrastructure network because it recognises that strategic investment will create easier routes to market and generate greater supply chain security. That’s why we want to expand in the region.

“Eurocentral is currently Europa’s only branch in Scotland and sits in a strategically important gateway location in Glasgow, within close proximity to an interconnected road, rail and airport system. It offers our customers a reliable infrastructure to move their goods seamlessly to and from Europe through a flexible and responsive service.

“Our decision to double the Glasgow team, and to invest in more office space, forms part of our plans to strengthen and grow our client portfolio across Scotland. The move means we will bring in more new talent to meet the growing demand for our services.”

The Europa Road team in Glasgow

A twelve-strong team, working under the firm’s European road transport division, Europa Road, currently operates at Eurocentral, led by a new Sales Branch Manager Elisa Elder. She recently stepped into the role following her predecessor’s promotion and following her own robust performance as an Account Manager within the team.

Elisa will be supported by Hayley Callachan who has also recently moved into the newly created position of Customer Service Branch Manager.

These are examples of Europa’s commitment to recognise and reward hard-working individuals within the business and to provide learning, development and career opportunities for anyone wishing to progress.

Securing the office space

The office space deal was brokered by the Central Services Property and Procurement Team at Europa Worldwide Group with CBRE and Knight Frank, joint letting agents for Maxim Park. This offers some 756,000 square foot of office and retail space and was acquired by Shelborn Asset Management in 2018.
