Infrastructure Engineer

Job Overview

The successful Infrastructure Engineer will join our IT Team, based in Dartford. We are looking for an Infrastructure Engineer who will play a vital part in the design, installation of the server infrastructure.

The Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for day-to-day operational service delivery of specific infrastructure and applications. They will work within a team of Infrastructure Engineers to provide 3rd line support of Windows/Linux/VMware & Citrix technologies and Support key IT Projects inclusive of solutions design and deployment.

You will also be required to be on call for 1 week out of 4, you will get £300 extra per month (£3,600.00 annually) on top of your salary!

Specific Skills
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a Technical Support Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer, or similar role
  • Excellent troubleshooting, fault finding and root cause analysis skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of Windows Server 2016-2022 & Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops
  • Excellent knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, DHCP and DNS
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft products including Office 365, Azure, and MDM would be advantageous.
  • Ability to think clearly under pressure along with sound decision making capabilities.
  • Knowledge of using call logging systems, raising, and closing tickets.
Responsible For
  • Maintain operational stability, security and high availability of core infrastructure platforms including the server estate both Windows and Linux.
  • Develop and deliver effective technical solutions, aligned with the infrastructure strategy.
  • Support Development Team with Back-end applications - Leonardo, High Jump (Logistics), PSB (Automation Robots at Corby), ASM Sequoia (Customs Clearance)
  • Administration of the VMware vSphere and infrastructure compute architecture.
  • Administration of O365 and Azure platforms, along with Active Directory, DNS, DHCP.
  • Maintain security patching across the infrastructure, in-line with vendor best practise.
  • Make sure all Data Centres are correctly provisioned and supported.
  • Respond to OOO emergencies (server failures, space issues, user issues, application issues), in a timely manner, with quick escalation and fix.
  • Monitor and maintain all Backups and Recovery systems.
  • Manage and maintain virtual desktop Infrastructure – Citrix Application and Desktop presentation (including ADC NetScaler’s)
  • Create and maintain documentation, policies and procedures to high standards
  • Ensure IT operational tasks in organisational projects are completed according to scope, budgets and timescales.
  • Plan infrastructure solutions and core IT architecture in-line with business requirements.
  • Out of hours work (for projects and implementations) and Standby/On-Call support.
