Newcastle Post Brexit Branch Boost New Head Leads Team into Next Phase of Growth

Logistics firm Europa Road, based at Silverlink Business Park in Wallsend, has welcomed Andrew Darroch as its new Branch Manager.  The company employs a team of 15 and offers a comprehensive road freight service for import and export to and from Europe.

Andrew from Blaydon on Tyne has been in the freight industry for 12 years working for a number of other leading transport and logistics firms before joining Europa Road.

Comment from Andrew Darroch

He comments: “I’m delighted to have joined the team in Wallsend at an exciting time of growth. The Europa team is keeping goods flowing smoothly with its DDP product which was designed to speed up consignments and reduce paperwork associated with post Brexit exports.

“March was a record month; our shipments have increased 40 per cent on this time last year.  This is partly down to our ability to offer this new service. Europa invested £5m in preparing for Brexit to make sure it could support its customers and this is certainly paying off, customers across the North East are using us to export their goods to Europe.”

More about the Newcastle Europa Road branch

Europa Road is the specialist European road transport division of independent logistics operator Europa Worldwide Group. The company has been based locally for 22 years and moved to its current home at Silverlink Business Park in February 2020, which is twice the size of its previous office in Monkton Business Park.

Europa Flow and Brexit

Despite reports that Brexit has negatively impacted on UK trading levels, the latest statistics from Europa shows its ‘frictionless customs product’ Europa Flow is enabling customer in the North East to buck that downward trend.

Since it was launched at the start of 2021 Europa Flow has seen a 101 per cent increase in the number of jobs going through the books. In Newcastle specifically there has been an increase of 30 per cent in shipments being made specifically through Europa Flow – compared to March 2021.

Over the course of the past year, more and more customers used this specialist delivery duty paid (DDP) service as they realised other carriers did not have sufficiently robust plans in place to move goods seamlessly across Europe.

By the end of January 2022, the average monthly transactions had more than doubled, meaning that by the end of the first 12 months, Europa Flow had dispatched over 100,000 consignments; a significant milestone and one the firm is immensely proud of. Europa Flow has also delivered across 24 EU countries and exported goods worth a total value of £1bn.

What is Europa Flow?

Europa Flow offers anticipated goods declarations, meaning consignments can be collected and exported on the same day. This appeals to customers of UK exporters because it means the whole process of appointing a customs broker, completing import declarations, and paying import duties is already taken care of.

More and more customers have turned to Europa Flow for these reasons, but also because other logistics operators were not fully up to speed on the far-reaching implications of Brexit, meaning goods were being held up in transit.

Comment from Sales and Branch Network Director at Europa, Adrian Redmile

“Andrew has a proven track record in the industry, and we’re delighted he has joined the team at such an exciting period of growth. Our business in the North East continues to flourish as a direct result of the team’s passion combined with our market leading products.

“Our post Brexit product has been instrumental in helping customers to remain operational and we are proud of what Europa Flow has already achieved and how it is leading the logistics industry by example as we enter a new era of supply chain interactions.”
