Position Summary:
Manage the operation within your area of responsibility, leading a team of Team Managers and Warehouse Operatives.
This is where you come in:
As an Area Manager you are responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the warehouse, focusing on financial and administrative management to maximise efficiency and profitability. This role involves managing labour requirements, ensuring adherence to Standard Operating Procedures and driving performance against Service Level Agreements and Key Performance Indicators.
Our Ideal Person:
- Previous experience in area management with in 3PL environment
- Have strong leadership and team management capabilities.
- Proficiency in Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Thorough understanding of SOPs, SLAs, KPIs, and inventory management.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and HMRC compliance.
- Proven ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- They must be able to tightly control, anticipate, plan and execute to success
In this role, you will:
- Facilitate the day-to-day running of the warehouse including financial and administration management, maximising both efficiencies and profit within your team.
- Manage the labour requirements determining over/under capacity of areas and escalate accordingly in line with forecasts.
- Update SOP training modules to reflect Standard Operating Procedures, ensuring change control process is followed and training plans are developed with direct team, and ensuring SOP sign off is controlled.
- Own and improve the SLA and KPI performance for your team.
- Provide solutions-focused and analytical reporting of data to management, operating and interrogating warehouse management systems (WMS).
- Maintain integrity of inventory accuracy in your department taking action to overcome issues.
- Deliver communication briefings so that all direct reports are aware of Company issues and so that employees can offer input/improvements and feel engaged.
- Monitor and develop Health and Safety within the warehouse, developing best practice through regular checks and audits with responsibility for carrying out accident/incident and root cause analysis investigations where required.
- Develop professional awareness and knowledge of HMRC regulations as applicable to stock held by the contract.
- Proactively lead absence, performance and disciplinary meetings and investigations and conduct 1-1s, probation and appraisal reviews.
- Liaise and develop relationships with internal and external customers to better understand requirements and ways of working, developing the customer relationship and respond to customer queries and requests in a professional and timely manner.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement by capturing and leading CI initiatives and projects.
