Position Summary:

Our Air & Sea division has expanded significantly over the last 2 years.

To lead and manage a team of Air & Sea Business Development Managers to maintain and develop relationships with an existing portfolio of accounts whilst maximising all sales opportunities by winning new business.

This is where you come in:

To take ownership and total responsibility for the delivery of financial and other targets set for the regionalised Air & Sea business development managers with the express aim of exceeding those targets set.

Our Ideal Person:

  • Experience in sales management preferably within the freight and distribution sector, and preferably with extensive Air & Sea freight experience
  • Skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel and sales management systems
  • Exceptional communication and customer relationship skills
  • Good standard of Education
  • Proven track record of achievement against demanding sales targets (both personal and team)
  • Proven track record in opportunity management and sales effectiveness/revenue conversion
  • Hard working and service orientated
  • Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, a team player, capable of building strong internal and external relationships
  • Strong proven new business sales negotiating and closure skills
  • Influencing and change management skills
  • Powerful oral and written communication skills
  • Proven people management skills
  • Good industry sector awareness and a strong network of contacts
  • Dedication, enthusiasm, ambition and gravitas

In this role, you will:

  • Understand the profitability of each client within each Business Development Managers portfolio, driving ideas and applying creative thinking to raise standards across the region
  • Understand the scope of the customer opportunities existing within your region and ensure those opportunities are converted to maximum effect with a sense of urgency
  • Ensure that excellent levels of customer service are always provided to our customers, irrespective of their size and scale.
  • Set and monitor targets and goals for your team. Hold regular meetings with your team to ensure targets are met/exceeded
  • Lead on the creation and delivery of training packages within your region
  • Create and promote a positive, motivated, and competitive work environment within your region
  • Ensure your team are working in harmony with other internal departments within the Europa organisation
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Offer regular coaching and training to Business Development Managers in your region, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge to succeed.
  • Provide reports and statistics to the National Air & Sea Sales Manager as and when required
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of Europa products and systems, to drive productivity from system improvements
  • Work within the Europa Framework at all times
  • Undertake any other duties as requested by their line manager, commensurate with the role.

  • Sick pay – 30 workdays of paid sick leave in a 36-month cycle; First 6 months – 1 day paid sick leave for every 26 days deducted from the 30 days
