Position Summary:
To work within the team of VMU Operatives ensuring completion of first fix works to trailers and trucks where appropriate.
This is where you come in:
The right candidate will have to have the ability to work as part of a fast paced and good-humoured team yet be able to work on your own initiative where required. The job requires flexibility to cover 3 shifts for a 6am, 9am, and 11am start to cover an 8/10hr shift. (Transport to decide)
The entire team must adhere to on-site H&S Compliance with regards to Housekeeping controls.
Our Ideal Person will have :
- Experience in use of Hand Tools (Own hand tools ideally)
- Be knowledgeable with experience in first fix trailer & truck repairs (non-mechanical)
- Knowledge of requirements for Trailer Preventative Maintenance Inspections
- Understand Trailer & truck legal compliance regulations
- Great communication skills both written and verbal
In this role, you will:
- Complete first fix to rolling stock ensure that efficiency and quality is maintained in service offered to the required standard.
- Advise Team Leader regarding parts for the vehicles/trailers and when stocks are low so replacements can be ordered.
- Complete trailer services in line with the required timetable as guided by the VMU Team Leader to ensure this is completed with minimal impact to the operation.
- Perform preventative main inspections on vehicles to ensure low level issues are dealt with swiftly
- Partake in weekly and monthly checks to VMU as required completing necessary paperwork to provide due diligence and audit trails.
- Deliver housekeeping standards within the VMU working area to ensure the area is kept safe and clear of obstructions that could cause injury.
- Complete curtain repairs as required so doesn’t impact operational service.
- Undertake any other duties as requested by the Team Leader/Line Manager, commensurate with the role.
