Europa Road Drives Business Forward with Fleet Investment

Europa Worldwide Group is planning for the future by investing in its trailer fleet for Europa Road.

Improving efficiencies

Europa Road has acquired 70 new trailers which are being delivered over a three-month period. The investment is part of the leading independent logistics company’s ongoing work to improve efficiencies.

Operating the UK’s largest European Groupage Hub, Europa Road is part of Europa Worldwide Group.  Europa Road offers two distinctly different road freight services – a Network Groupage and Non-Network Solution’s (for full and part loads) for European road freight.

As part ongoing investment plans Europa Road is focusing on improvements to optimise efficiencies to its fleet of 270 trailers to ensure maximum flexibility.

70 new trailers

Europa has signed leases with ICTS UK and Trailer Resources Ltd for the trailers with a full repair and maintenance contract.  Replacing existing units the 40 new Krone vari-deck box trailers from ICTS Group are UK registered and equipped with a height-adjustable loading beams for double deck transport to accommodate both Europe and UK pallets. In addition, 30 new curtainsiders are arriving from Trailer Resources Ltd.

Stuart Kirk, Fleet Manager at Europa Road said: “We’re thrilled with the addition of the new trailers which will be fully integrated into our European road operation and used on routes throughout the UK and Europe.

“Due to COVID-19, we are experiencing a slight delay with collecting the trailers. The first half of the trailers from ICTS have been collected in Rotterdam and the remaining are due to join us at the end of May. Subject to production lead times, the 30 curtainsiders from are also due to arrive at Europa at the end of May.”

Investing in the future

Dan Cook, Operations Directors at Europa Road said: The decision to invest in the fleet was made more than six months ago, to ensure we continue to have the most effective fleet set up and facilitate our ambitious growth plans, following a successful year in 2019, that saw Europa Road’s turnover increase from £108m to £122m.

“Our ultimate goal is to reduce the overall number of trailers, by ensuring the ones we have are as homogenous as possible, ideally one type of box and one type of curtain, and that they all contain the relevant attributes (tracking, security locks, vari deck loading, usable on the continent and the UK etc) to allow us to maximise the flexibility and optimisation of the fleet. In other words, any trailer can be used for any purpose. This investment allows us to continue to move towards achieving that goal.”

Growth for Europa Road

Earlier this year, the Europa Road announced its investment in its Non-Network offer, focusing on business development and growth full and part loads in response to market demands. Europa has also welcomed a new partnership with Gardener Distribution, expanding its reach across the South West.

Europa has featured in The Sunday Times Top Track 250, as one of the fastest growing privately-owned mid-market businesses in the UK for the past two years.
